Emily Cross
I love taking pictures of people. Whether digital or film, I see the raw negative as a first step in the creative process and have experience with Capture One and Photoshop as well as darkroom and alternative printing process. Compositionally I love visualization of sound through line, texture, and patterns. My artistic influences lean toward pictorialism and impressionism. My work has been described as “haunting” and beautiful.
Portraits - One of the best tips I’ve heard for portraits is to ask people to take the day off the day of the portrait. While that may not actually be possible, it is important to carve out some time—for you. Also, bring a favorite object, even if it’s not in the final photo—favorite book, baseball glove, guitar—bring it along!
Art Prints - Prints featured on this website focus on intentional camera movement (ICM) and 35mm 120mm film photography.
Documentary - I love capturing candid, real life moments, my favorite images over the years are spontaneous moments captured at weddings, ordinations, rallies, and concerts.
